Important Updates For Property Owners – September 2017

Beacon Lake Closed – Due to the low water level, Beacon Lake has been closed to motorized boats until further notice. The main issue is the water level is below the rip-rap that protects the dam from erosion. Sailboats, canoes and kayaks are allowed since they do not make a wake. One of the four water wells has been out of service for the past several weeks in addition to missing the heavy rains in August that was seen in the surrounding area. With future rains we hope the lake will be re-opened soon.

MLR Kids Club – Sunday September 17th, 2:00 pm is the next event at the clubhouse. This is a monthly event.  Contact: for more information.

New Kayak / Canoe Rack approved for Beacon Lake – The POA Board approved this amenity to Beacon Lake after the rack at Anglers Cove was such a success. Starting in 2018, both racks will be awarded spaces on a lottery draw system, 16 spaces at each lake, for the price of $25.00 per season (February 1st until December 1st ). Applications for lottery can be found on the website.

Garage Sale, Saturday October 7th – A Community Garage Sale will be held at the RV Park on Saturday October 7th. Cost will be $15 for a 20’ x 20’ space. Make checks payable to “POA of MLR”. The money will be used by the Social Committee for future events. Garage Sale hours will be 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. Set-up begins at 7:00 am Saturday morning. Early arrivals NOT ALLOWED. A sign will be available if owners want to list their address for items at their homes.

Community Clean-up, Saturday October 7thAfter a successful Spring Clean-up the POA will again have two large roll-off dumpsters for owners to bring items that need to be thrown away. Time will be 8:00 am until Noon inside the RV Storage Area. Absolutely no chemicals, batteries or tires. This is for owners only and proof may be required. Builders will NOT be allowed to bring construction debris. Brush may be brought to a special burn pile.

R V Storage Applications Required – Owners are required to complete an updated application each year if they store trailers, boats, or RVs in the Storage Area. The 2017 form can be found on the website under the Forms section. This is important since several units appear be have been abandoned. Failure to update your application each year will result in your unit being moved when needed (because we can’t determine the owner ) and access to this area restricted.          **Mail or scan completed paperwork to the management company **


Highway Clean-up – Saturday October 21st is the next time Mountain Lakes Community is scheduled to pick–up our two mile section of highway. Meet at the clubhouse at 7:00 am for coffee and donuts and to get a safety vest. The more volunteers the quicker we finish!

Rental Storage Units – A few units remain that measure 10’ x 10’ x 10’ with 8’ doors in the RV Storage Area. They rent for $65 per month and the application can be found on the website. The Board is considering building a few larger units in the future so feel free to email the management company if you have a desire to rent a larger unit.

Website Calendar –Watch the calendar of events on the website for events such as Family Movie Nights, Quarterly Breakfast, Board meetings, Monthly Kids Club and if the Clubhouse is available to rent!

Community Garden – Contact Julie Edwards,, if you have any interest in a Fall / Winter garden spot. If you want to help “community style” Julie needs to know. A small parking lot has been completed and gravel walk paths will be finished shortly.
